About Your Attorney
Matthew C. Williams
Former Prosecutor. Defense Attorney. Your Advocate.
From Prosecutor to Defender
Matt Williams didn't start out as a defense attorney. For 13 years, he was a prosecutor - the person who brings charges against people accused of crimes.
As the prosecutor for Valley County, Cascade, and McCall, Matt learned exactly how the system works from the inside. But he also saw good people who made mistakes. People who deserved someone to fight for them.
In 2013, Matt made a choice. He left prosecution and started defending people instead.
"I spent years putting people in jail. I know exactly how prosecutors build their cases. Now I use that knowledge to protect my clients."

26 Years of Experience
Passed the Bar
Matt passed the Idaho Bar and began working as Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. From day one, he was in the courtroom, not behind a desk.
Elected Prosecuting Attorney
At age 30, Matt won election as Valley County Prosecuting Attorney and was appointed to fill the remainder of the term after the sitting prosecutor stepped down. He also served as prosecutor for the cities of Cascade and McCall.
Learned the System
As a prosecutor, Matt tried dozens of cases. He learned exactly how the state builds cases, what evidence matters, and what makes cases fall apart.
Chose to Protect More People
As the elected prosecutor, Matt could only help with cases in his own county. He chose to start protecting people in criminal, family law, and civil cases, for people who needed quality representation and someone with the skill to get the job done.
Fighting for the Defense
Matt now uses everything he learned as a prosecutor to defend people accused of crimes, families going through difficult times, and regular people wronged by powerful institutions.
Community Roots
Matt has been part of the Idaho community for nearly 30 years. He coached junior high and high school football for 14 years and stayed actively involved in youth sports and mentoring young people.
He's well respected by local judges and prosecutors. When Matt takes your case, he's helping his neighbor.
