Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Matthew C. Williams, Attorney at Law ("Williams Law," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you visit mattwilliams.law (the "Site") or contact us through it. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Submitting information through this Site does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please review our Legal Disclaimer before sending any case details, and do not send confidential or time-sensitive information until an attorney-client relationship has been established in writing.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
When you complete a contact or callback form, we collect the information you submit, typically your name, phone number, email address, the type of legal matter, and any description you choose to share. You control what you include; please do not submit sensitive details you would not want transmitted by email.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and security provider automatically records standard server-log data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, device information, referring pages, and the dates and times of access. This data is used for security, diagnostics, and to keep the Site running reliably. The Site does not use advertising or analytics tracking.
Embedded map content
Our Contact page embeds a Google Maps frame so you can locate our office. When that map loads, Google may receive your IP address and related technical data. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
How We Use Your Information
- To respond to your inquiry and discuss potential representation;
- To provide information about our legal services;
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Site;
- To comply with applicable law and to protect our rights.
How Your Information Is Shared
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that operate this Site, and only as needed to provide their service:
- Cloudflare, Inc. provides our website hosting, content delivery, DNS, and security. Cloudflare also processes our contact and callback form submissions and delivers them to us by email, and runs the bot-protection check ("Turnstile") that helps keep the forms free of spam. In doing so it processes server-log data (including IP addresses) and the information you enter into a form. We do not use a separate third-party form service.
- Google LLC (Google Maps) provides the embedded office map on our Contact page and may receive technical data when the map loads.
We may also disclose information if required by law, court order, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our clients, our firm, or others.
Cookies
The Site does not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our security provider may set a strictly-necessary cookie to protect the Site and detect malicious activity. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; doing so will not affect your ability to read the Site.
Data Retention
We retain contact-form submissions for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry and to meet our legitimate business and legal obligations. You may request that we delete information you have submitted by emailing us at the address below.
Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect the information we handle. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not transmit highly sensitive information through the Site's forms.
Your Choices and Rights
You may request to access, correct, or delete the personal information you have provided to us by emailing [email protected]. If you are located in a jurisdiction that grants additional privacy rights, please contact us and we will respond consistent with applicable law.
Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
Third-Party Links
The Site may link to third-party websites we do not control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted, and the "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
